A controversial late disallowed 'try' by Steve Hillman cost the Old T's a well deserved win at Roseheyworth Fields last Saturday.
T's started slowly, gifting Cwmcarn an early try from an attacking scrum and an unopposed backs move. From there they dominated the half but only gaining a penalty from centre, Chris Davies. On the verge of the break a missed tackle allowed the opposing 9 burst over from halfway for Cwmcarn's second. HT 3-12.
The T's went on to dominate the second half completely but chronic recycling of slow ball into slower ball saw their dangerous backs receive no platform. Another penalty by Davies put them in range with 20 minutes remaining.
The introduction of second row Hillman saw a change in tack with more aggressive forward play making inroads will Hillman and prop Ed Ryan coming to the fore. However, with Hillman pulled up for an alleged double movement all was to no avail. FT 6-12.
